The Good Fight
Verse 1:
The main reason
That we despair
In this life
Is we’ve never learned
How to overcome
How to overcome
Prechorus:
Oh Spirit take control
Of each thought and every word
Chorus:
I will fight the good fight
I will run the race
And I will keep the faith
I will fight the good fight
I will run the race
For I will keep the faith
Verse 2:
To know You
Is all You’re asking for
Is all You’re asking for
The devil runs
When I turn to You
When I turn to You
Bridge:
In that day, there will be
A crown of righteousness
Because You gave Your life
On Calvary
At the end of his life, Paul wrote a letter to Timothy to encourage him to persevere and remain faithful to the work of spreading the gospel. Throughout his ministry, Paul faced many challenges. He had been stoned many times, exiled, thrown in prison, beaten, and ridiculed during his ministry. It would have been easy for him to get discouraged, but his faith in God allowed him to complete the mission that God had given him. As Christians, we have all been given the same responsibility of sharing the message of Christ with the world. Throughout the Christian walk, there will be many trials that come our way that could distract us from finishing God’s work. However, we must press on and fight the good fight of faith. As a reward, there will be a crown of righteousness waiting for us in Heaven.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 7, 8
